Hello everyone,

Please, could anyone tell me how to choose a good stats-collecting application and what to watch for when choosing one. Also, how does one connect this stats collector application to the server where the site, I want the stats from, is hosted.

I would also like to have some background as to how all this stat-collecting business works.

I don't want to abuse your kindness, but could someone tell me how the domain choosing works and where to register it. And how to choose the extension of my site and why I should choose this one or that one.

Thank you for your time.

Avenir,

For looking over your "stats" or log files I reccomend weblog expert, you can google for it. Your log files are usually accesible on the server. Make sure when you set up hosting you have access to them.

Domain choosing depends on if you want to build a brand or just be found in the serps, you need to make some choices. In my opinion the domain name and extension have very little importance if you are just looking for search engine traffic.

There are many good registrars.

I have to agree weblog expert is great and not that expensive. It does kind of get out of hand when you get too many sites. We are writing our own software right now. I don't know why anybody would pay for one of those expensive ones it is cheaper to hire a programmer.
