Need program to track visitors in real-time

I currently use WhosOn to track website visitors in real-time via the log files, but have had problems with it and am looking for another solution.

I would like to hear about any other programs out there that do the same thing.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks all!

I say once again that log files is a BAD way to track visitors. Great for tracking Robots, hackers, and general weirdness but real people? log files make too many erronous assumptions.

Try Crafty Syntax. Is is an open source php based chat app.
You can use it in hidden mode and track some very useful info in real time. It will notify you when a user enters your site, give you the referrer and user agent. Show what page the user is on and for how long and give you a full trail of the users clicks through your site. Most of this info is captured in a database so you can check on what pages are accessed the most and get an ongoing list of referrers. It is great to use b/c you just install to your website and use through the browser. One downside is you must install a piece of javascript code to any pages you want to track. If you have a large site this may be a chore.

Agreed. We utilize both WebTrendsLive (web based solution) and a WebTrends server solution. We were ready to switch to LiveStats which has a Who's On feature but after signing up and implementing their code, we found out their JavaScript did not validate. Sent a few emails to customer support and they said they would not fix it as "it worked for everyone else".

I've worked with LiveStats in the past and the neatest thing is that Who's On feature. I'd switch tomorrow if they would provide me with valid code. Our clients are more than satisfied with the metrics coming from the two products we currently have implemented.

try phpopentracker. Its really great and has neat output like clickpaths
