Hits Page Views and Visitors

The Fiffernce between hits and page views

I am looking at my Stats for my website and can someone just explain the difference between Hits and Page Views.

I assume page views are Person X logs on and looks at 5 pages on your site = 1 Visitor, 5 Page Views and this is the confusing bit? of Hits

Hits = Requests to the server for files, including images, css files etc...

Visitors = Unique sessions. Like I come to your site and visit x number of pages, i am one unique visit.

Page Views = individual pages requested, regardless of whether they are from the same user or not.

NB: Some tracking software may vary in its terminolgy, there is usually a key or faq for this in your software package.
