Filtering Style Sheets in WebTrends

I'm struggling to exclude a file: default.css from a report. Anyone know which filter I should use?

Make a hit filter, type "file" and enter the filename(s) you want to exclude.

Where do I find the hit filter? Is that in the Filters tab when editting a Web Traffic Profile? There is a file filter in there but it does not seem to recognise .css files.

try Options, and file types. css should be in there somewhere.

Not in version 5 it seems. I've tried submitting default.css, *.css and default.* in the file filter and none work.

I don't have WRC 5 to check to be sure, but *.css definitely should work. Are you specifying that it's a User-Defined File? That really *shouldn't* be making a difference, but maybe for some reason it does.

Are you doing a Re-Analyze as opposed to an Analyze operation when you check to see if it worked? You have to wipe out the existing database and replace it with a new one, is why.

You can do the same kind of thing by making a Hit Filter of type "URL" also.

This feature has been in WT for eons and I've used it a thousand times for exactly this, so I'm puzzled.

On second thought, your use of the phrase "Edit Web Traffic Profile" makes me think you're not using WRC 5, but rather some version of Analysis Suite or Log Analyzer? In that case, yes, the filter set-up is within the profile, not in an Options tab. In Analysis Suite 7, you create a new filter, choose Exclude, give it a name, then check File Only, then type in *.css or default.css or whatever you want. Ignore what I said about "Re-Analyze."
