Hi all,

I am new to log analyser, I have used few like sawmill but never configured one. I want a free web stat application, also I want to configure it, please guide me through, I have access to a server, also know where the log files are(thats all I have).

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

If you're using an analyzer of any merit, there should be some instructions on the website from where you downloaded it. If there isn't, there's most likely a README.txt as well. If both are present read both.

Installing and configuring these things can be intimidating, but most do a decent job with their instructions. If you read carefully and take your time, you should be able to do it yourself and learn a whole lot :)

Here the Problem I am facing is, I donot have the server, all I have is 100 mb space there. I donot think I can install(from an exe) anything there but I can copy the files. I want to try awstat.

You can deffinitely move your logfile to another machine and do the log processing there. But from what you say, I expect that you only have Windows machines available to you? If so I've never used awstats on Windows, but it seems like it could run just fine on Windows. You'll need Perl on the machine but that's shouldn't be a problem. I think it's called ActiveState Perl, but it's been a while :)

I would suggest again that you dive in, read the documentation and enjoy the experience :) Learning to install and use products you've never used before is liberating.
