Banner tracking software

I have a client that wants to add a banner mgt program to each page that we submit to be able to track click-throughs, sales, etc off of the traffic from their search engine rankings. My question is, will these pages be penalized in the search engines because of this tracking stuff added to their pages?

Any thoughts?

I have banners on mine, I see no negatives effects. However, remember that the script could, depending on the set-up, put a lot of banner code at the top of the page. I use an iframe/layer arrangement injected by external js... no significant footprint.
