Just now in my logs: a string of accesses supposedly referred by "www.forthefallen.com". That's an obscure website for a garage band, and certainly doesn't link to me. The access string suggests an automated crawl (including some nonsense requests), and the useragent changes occasionally. The IP is from China. Any idea what this is all about?

Do a forum search for 'log spamming' or 'log-file spamming'... a particularly tedious attempt to gain popularity via Google crawling publicly-accessible log files/reports.

Same mind-set as blog spamming - link dropping at all costs.

OK, thanks. How many logs are even publically accessible? Seems like a low-gain strategy to me...

Zillions of logs are publicly accessible. Or if not the logs themselves, then log analysis reports.
