Getting a few odd 404 reports, pages that don't exist linking from other pages which don't exist on my site:

404 /proplus.php
404 /mao-npp.htm
404 /mao-contact.htm
404 /mao-maps.htm

These are just a few of them. Does anyone know what these are, or why this kind of thing happens?

I'm not sure why the 404s are occuring, but searching Google for the last 3 pages you mention brings up the same site each time, so there's a chance that might help you work out where they are coming from, if you haven't looked at this already.

Hmm bizarre. Plastic surgery eh? Nothing to do with my site. I wonder why people would be looking for those pages on my site. I thought maybe it was a confused spider, but it doesn't look like one in my logs - "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.00; Windows 98"

Strange.

It is a spider/robot though it does not belong to Inktomi. Also, MSIE 5.00 isn't even a legit version of IE and the UA string is missing the closing ")".

More from WebmasterWorld forums on MSIE 5.00 [google.com].

Yes, I thought that was wierd.

Still, it seems to be nothing to worry about, so I won't.

Cheers for your replies,

Helen.
