Hi,
Lately I have seen many hits to my site whith a referrer from a search engine where the search was actually done for my company name and/or product name like 'cuevision' or 'cuevision+network+monitor'. I've seen searches like this from google, msn, yahoo, etc, and all different ip's from different countries. Anyway, I am wondering if these are real people or something else, because my company is brand new and we just released our software product a couple of weeks ago, so I would find it hard to believe that people would know our company and/or product name so soon. Any thoughts?

It could be that some popular website found your product and did a review without linking to your site directly. People were interested and they used the search to find you.

Do you have an increased number of emails? Sales?

Good point, that may be it. Yes, we did have an increase in downloads since these searches started, and of course we offer a trial period, so we will see if these translate to sales!

Do that search yourself. See if the other website that mentioned you shows up.

Try searching for:

link:www.yoursite.com

When I search using link, I only get 2 pages of google results, but when I search using cuevision + network + monitor, I get 10 pages of results. I am also using google adwords, so I guess just getting the name out on all those sites and adwords could be enough to get some people to type it into a search engine.

Thanks.

Just a thought, is it possible the name you selected for your product is also the name of another product that is or once was already out there? They could be searching for that and finding you.
