First post on this site. Although I have been reading about tracking and logging software and options, I'm not able to reference (read) the famous /forum39/905.html discussion. Also, seems like the "905" discussion was posted quite some time ago and would like to understand what individuals are using on their desktops to analyze web traffic and patterns (as of today). In my case, I run a very small retail site that just started up in January of this year and am quite new to all of this. Being a new small business, I don't have a lot of funds available to purchase software to analyze web traffic, however, am currently using Urchin stats (provided by my ASP). Urchin costs me $10 per month (as a hosted option) and I was wondering if there is something better available Urchin that I can use on my desktop by downloading my daily log files to my desktop. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

As to the age of some of these threads, two notes:
1) it is more important to understand tracking and logging than to get a recommendation on a specific program. If you understand what you can and cannot do, and why things work the way they do, you can evaluate programs and find what meets your own needs.
2) I don't know that there have been any breathtaking new entries on the tracking and logging scene in the past year, so threads that are one and two years old will still be very useful.
