I recently grew suspicious of some of the referral results WebTrends was listing for (I think just) Google. When I look over the report for an individual day, I sometimes find the "search phrase detail" includes two or more referrals through Google that used the exact same search phrase. (What made me suspicious was finding several listings for rather unusual search phrases.)

So, when this happens, I now look in the logs themselves, where the search phrase in question generally appears just ONCE.

Any idea what's going on with WebTrends or what I could do to prevent it from duplicating (multiplying?) the results? (Note: I am using WebTrends 6.0, purchased in August 2000. Maybe a bit old, but it has given us what we need... and in any case it shouldn't make this sort of mistake!)

I've have seen double counted referrals in logs from websites that use 301/302 redirects or frames.

But it sounds very strange that you can only see ONE referral string with the search phrase in your log. If this IS the case then it must be a bug in WebTrends.
