hello,

i've always found many logs from exaled.com in the past visiting my sites almost each day, i guess exaled is a spider associated with AOL France so i didn't ban it.
now here comes the new one: Exabot NG/MimeLive Client (convert/http/0.159)"
this new one is hitting my sites thousand of times each n every day since a week.
it's a massive spidering! why so massive? and does Exabot has nothing to do with exaled spider?
what would you do? just let it go?

thanks for replies

according to this thread [webrankinfo.com] in a french WebmasterWorld-equivalent Exabot is the bot for netscape.fr, aol.fr and scoot.fr.

A visit to exabot.com (redirect to exalead.com) gives no specific information about the bot. You might want to conatct them directly to get an answer

so i wrote to exalead.com about the spider Exabot NG/MimeLive Client (convert/http/0.159) hitting massively my site.
my email was very polite and just asking about infos, i didn't ask to stop spidering my site, just wanted to know the purposes of such spidering.
after my email they've immediately suspended the spidering of my site (not even a single hit anymore) and they didn't reply at all to my email.

that's weird, they're acting like they have been catched with hands on marmalade!
on their pages such spider is not mentioned at all but it's now clear it belongs to them, also i have the feeling they were retrieving contents (.ra files mostly) from my site, not just spidering.

definetely that's NOT a professional way to act. BEWARE OF THOSE FRENCH BAGETTES!
