How do you get somebody IP, off aim?

Please somebody help!

I know this thread probably been made like a million times, but i need to know how do you find somebody IP on instant messager. Especially aim....Somebody keep i ming taking crazy and i wanna know it is. They went as far as hacking into my name. I can't continue like this, this person know me and i know them. And i feel if i get that person IP, i can find out who it is and do something about it.

Can somebody help me out please?

I dont think there is any way to find an IP address through AIM, Even if there was the ip address doesn't generaly enable you to locate someone.

If the person is using a dial up connection then the chances are their ip address will change every time they go online.

AIM communications go through a central server so you can only get the server's ip address. However if you or they do a "direct connection" then you could lookup their IP in any personal firewall.

Not to be unfriendly (especially since I tried to help) but I am really curious why someone would post a question like this on a site for webmasters? Certainly there are more appropriate places?

To be fair, it is the tracking and logging forum and she's definitely trying to track :)

If the person you are trying to track down is being abusive, then AOL could pretty easily put a stop to that (although the user could always come back under another guise, but presumably AOL will know who they are should that be the case).
