Tracking buyers who only buy AFTER first visit

Is this possible?

Are there any tracking solutions for buyers who come back and buy at a later visit to a site?

I read a lot about these ROI tools that are springing up, but are they sophisticated enough to track purchases to the original visit?

It's very easy to do, it just requires a simple cookie to be given a unique user id. This effectively rules out all the pure web log analyzers.

This is how most of the affiliate programs work, a cookie is created on the clients computer when they click their link. So if the user returns a year later (and they haven't deleted their cookies) that sale will still be referenced back to the orginal referrer. And they get the commission.

There are tracking services out that provide this and more but WW don't like you mentioning specifics!

Okay, will any of these do what I'm after?

ConversionRuler

these have all been mentioned on here :-)

Probably. You've missed out quite a few others though. :)

You could add Pilot HitList to that list

Can anyone recommend a way to find reviews or more information on these programs? The ones I've seen so far don't have trial downloads, and I'd like to know what I'm getting in to before I cough up cash...

Up at the top of the page is a link to the Library. There's usually some good information there. If you can't find what you need in there the next best thing is either do a site search on WW or you can simply scroll through the list of posts within the tracking forum.

I'm fairly certain the answer to your question is here, and it can be found in queries about cookies and/or tracking repeat visitors.

Be nice- if you find it can you post what thread you found it in?
:)
