Hi,

I've been looking at putting the free version of sitemeter on my site. It puts an image link on every page to sitemeter.com . Would this suck pr from my site. Would the one you pay for be any better as it says it is invisible?

An outward link doesn't drain PR but it reduces PR you are giving to internal links.

Google ignores links within javascript and most stats programs have the link back to their homepage shrouded in js.

Whatever the case it is now argued that PR doesn't matter much anyway.

Here is the code that they want to put on the site:

There is a link outside the <script> tags. Its in <noscript> tags would Google count this?

<!--WEBBOT bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan ALT="Site Meter" -->
<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">var site="k17name"</script>
<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript1.2" src="http://s17.sitemeter.com/js/counter.js?site=k17name">
</script>
<noscript>
<a href="http://s17.sitemeter.com/stats.asp?site=k17name" target="_top">
<img src="http://s17.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=k17name" alt="Site Meter" border=0></a>
</noscript>
