Usage Log Management

I hope this is the best place to ask this question...

I have a small 25 MB hosting account on a UNIX server. When uploading files I've started getting a message "usage quota exceeded". Looking at my usage stats it's because over 8 MB is taken up with Usage Log files.

My main logs directory has a 2MB file called:

web.log.1

and several similarly named compressed files (web.log.2.gz, web.log.3.gz etc.) though these are only a 100KB each and so with the other file only add up to about 2.5MB.

As a novice at this, I'd be interested to know just which log files I can delete to retrieve some of this space? And what's taking up the rest of the 8MB log file usage?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld SimonC.

I would think your hosting company would be best to answer this.
