awstats question

need help please

I'm thinking about using awstats. The question is can I use this program without putting it on a server. I don't host my site and I don't like the tracking system they use. I do have access to my log files.

If I can't use awstats without putting it on the server is there any other (free) programs I can use.

You can use it on your local machine, which is what I do.

Just download your log files, set up the configuration file properly, and run it in local mode. You have to be at least passingly technical to wire it all together, but it does work quite well.
