It's close to Xmas. Looking for something like this. Free, of course. Anything that reads .gz log files, perhaps new visitors, or at least, unique.
My present host only maintains log files for up to 30 days. Wondering how I can store them longer. And lastly, how can I avoid having to download every log file when desiring to view stats daily? My log files aren't marked in any pattern that I could figure out which ones would be recent.
Thanks. I am as new as you can get in this area. As you can probably tell.

Hi, this is a very common question. Please take a moment to read through the prior posts to see if your question may be common. It may have already been answered.

I think that a more interesting discussion would be, "what makes a webhost good?"

Also remember that most web hosting plans allow you to test drive their services for a month with a money back guarantee. It shouldn't take more than a week to know whether a host really sucks or not.
