Hey all,

I'm a newbie to logging so please bear with me. A question about access_logs: I opened my file today in a text editor, instead of all the usual raw data (IP address, time/date, user agent, etc.) I only see the word "combined", lines and lines of it. What does this mean? Would I need a log analyser to read this file?

Thanks for any help.

SS.

did you find anything else on this?

my first impression is that it appears to be a bad logfile configuration directive in httpd.conf... one that causes the word "combined" to be output to the log file instead of the actual data in the combined format...

Thanks wkitty42!

Yes, turned out there was some sort of configuration error when we switched servers, so once that was corrected our logs were outputting properly again.
