Best low cost tracking service?

Who gives the best bang for the buck?

I am currently using Adfree Stats for one website. It is free and it does a pretty good job. But they have change their fairly attactive small banner to one that flashes an ugly puesdo list box.

I want to add tracking to another site, I guess it is time to start paying for the service. I don't want to pay a ton of money. I also want to track refrrals from Google Adwords. Are there any services out ther that might fit the bill? If so can someone please post the URLs to these services?

check out metatraffic

It is free for non-commercial use, or 39.95 for a commercial license. You can track either using .js or .asp

It is VERY simple to use, gives you page views, unique visitors, you can select what time period you want (by clicking on a date on the little calander) and display data for just that time period.

the .asp mode will track Robots as well. .js will give you screen area as well.

As you probubly have figured out it is a server based utility that uses server scripts to execute and save to a MSACCESS or SQL server database.

Currently Chad (the developer of metatraffic) is working on a new release, and i am sure it will contain even more great features. Talk of MySQL support and some other features are on the docket.

I sometimes go out and download some trials of a few tracking or analysis tools, but always end up uninstalling it or deleting the pages off my sites.

Metatraffic is my personal fav, and i would certainly not want to waste any time with anything else.

* I am not an employee of Metasun or have anything to do with Metatraffic other than the fact that i enjoy the product.

**I also hope i have not violated the specifics agreement by posting on these forms. It would be kind of hard to answer the question without giving specifics.....

Thanks for the advice. But please let me clarify. I am looking for a tracking service and tracking software. I am on a fairly inexpensive hosting company that only allows HTML.

sitetracker.com used to be a great service. I haven't used it in in a couple years, so it may have changed, but they were about the most complete of any free tracking service at the time.

You add JavaScript code to the bottom of each page and then log onto their site for your stats. You say that you can only use HTML, but this JavaScript gets put right in the HTML, before your closing tags - very simple.
