Cobalt Raq Stats

Using Webalizer

Does anyone here have experience of the problems regarding results not updating correctly using Webalizer on Cobalt Raqs?

We have for sometime now had a "blip" in the results when the overnight update takes place. We are using the latest version and our RAQ's are reasonably new (under 1 year old).

High traffic sites give a result for one day then a low figure for each alternate day.
Low traffic sites give a result for a few days then a low figure every now and then.

We know that other tech forums have mentioned this but as yet our tech guy cannot find a solution to this ongoing problem.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Is this on a dedicated server?

The problem I had (on cobalt) was that with my hosting company, they were rotating the logs every morning from the main server to each of the virtual sites. If the then created/updated log file is bigger than a certain limit (1 Meg for me) it is then zipped and stored next to a brand new 'clean' log file. And then they updated the stats with the empty log file which caused 'blank' days in the stats.

What I had to do is create a cron task to update my stats and then delete the log file so it's never bigger than the limit fixed by the hosting company.

My sites are receiving small traffic (600 unique/month and below) and it's now working fine.

Hi le_gber

Thanks for the info - I will pass it on to our tech guy.

The Cobalt RAQ's are our own leased ones.
We run some 300 sites on a number of them and the stats are the same problem for all sites on all servers.

Our tech guy has completed some configuartion work on the RAQ's regarding rotation of the logs every morning without much success.

He is also trying to find any help, on how to supply consistent results to our clients via Webalizer.

Regards

I don't know about webalizer but I tend to use awstats and there is really no pb setting it up.

As for the stats may be the logs became too big and were zipped like I originally thought.

Hope this help
