I did a search but it turned up nothing.

Was wondering if it possible to track PDF files. If so how can it be done?

Contact your server to find out what kind of access you have to the traffic logs for your domain... They should either have a log analysis program installed on the server, or allow you to access the logs so you can install your own script.

Almost all log analysis programs will produce a report showing number of hits per page/file on your site, including pdfs.

Thanks mivox.

And is that the only answer, I'm guessing then that there is no way of adding the tracking to the pdf.

Not that I know of... but I've never used an off-site tracking service like that. You might try contacting hitslink's tech support to see if they know a way.
