Users have the ability, with certain browsers, to set referrer strings manually.

Aditionally, some sites (like blog sites) have dynamic links that change based on some occurance. Blog sites do it when blogs on their list update.

Perhaps this is happening?

Chances are high you're not getting any traffic at all from them. More than likely, this is someone's way of promoting their site by spamming your log files.

Yeah I get unexplained referrals too, sometimes. Like referrals from competitor's websites. I have always chalked it up to bugged browsers.

Log spamming is out there, so you should not be too supried if you see a strange referrer and you are not on the referring page.
