Referrer Log

site analysis woes.

For some time, my web hosting company provided weekly site reports that would contain a "Referring document by URL" file that was HTML-formatted for easy perusing by browser.

Having recently moved to a new server (same hosting co.), I now find that this report is no longer featured. Is it common to not offer formatted referrer log info? If so, how does one go about retrieving this info themselves & putting it into a viable, accessible format?

I've been told that my referrer is indeed on, that I need to use the access log somehow to retrieve this info?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Typically you'll download the raw access log file via FTP and run a log analysis program on the file to generate reports. The thread jatar_k suggested discusses the more popular log analyzer programs and online traffic tracking/analyzing services available.

You also have the alternative of subscribing to a "real time" analysis service

Basically they analyse your visitors and supply real time charts of what is going on, but costs you more than doing the job yourself with one of the tools you could get from browsing the above threads
