Requesting how to track how many times a PDF has been downloaded

We are using WebTrends Reporting Service v6.0. I have had a detailed look round the Reporting Sercice and I can not find anywhere where it will tell me how many times our PDFs / Word files / ect have been dowloaded.

From looking around it seems like a simple thing to do with WebTrends Live but I can not find a way of doing it with WebTrends Reporting Service v6.0.

At the moment we are creating a download page inbetween the link to the pdf and the pdf which contains the WebTrends Tag but this is not an ideal solution.

If anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks

WebTrends Reporting Service 6 has replaced Webtrends live, which is being phased out.

You should be able to see .pdf files (and any other kinds of files) by looking at "resources accessed" and then looking at "top pages". This should be tracking all the file types which you have on your site.

If this still doesn't work try setting up .pdf files in the URL parameter analysis part. This way you can link to the .pdf's using a link like [example.com...] and it should come up when you look at the URL parameter analysis report and tell you the stats regarding each unique link.

<edit> for silly urls.

I don't seem to have 'resources accessed' area within my WebTrends Desktop.

I am starting to wonder if WebTrends has been set up properly. How can I test if it is viewing the log file correctly (I presume it needs to view the log file to work out PDF downloads) as all the information I have access to could all easily becoming from the SmartTags which we have pasted in to each html page.

Also, I have only been provided with a basic login account not administrator rights as I was not involed in setting it up. Would this make any difference to what information I have accesss to?
