free counter script?

looking for something simple

i am looking for a free counter script that can track unique visits from all my pages on my site. something that will look like

2005 visitors since june 2003 (only on my index page)

i have no idea how to set up cgi ect..

Welcome to WebmasterWorld htdawg,

Do you not have access to your server logs? There are free programs that can analyze them and give better reports than a counter.

Or is there a reason you want to specifically use a counter.
