I was wondering if there was a way to see the ip addresses of the visitors to my site on a daily basis?

Hello Blelisa and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

If you have access to your raw logs you can download them, daily if you like, and use any of the free stats analysis packages to extract that data.

One popular and powerful package is Analog.

If you use the site search feature at the top of this window you'll find a lot more information as well.

Hi all,

Sorry I'm new hence stupid. My hositng company uses Webabilizer, which seems to be okay, but I can't tell from their documentation how I might actually download the raw data.

Can anyone give me any pointers?

Thanks

dzinerbear,

No question is stupid. You may ask a question that makes light bulbs go on across the forum so ask away. The only thing I suggest is to try a site search, at the top of this window, to see if it may have been answered before.

Most host give you access to at least a basic stats package such as webalizer, but the point to remember is that they are usually BASIC.

If your hosting setup has a control panel , such as Cpanel, look for something along the lines of "access logs" or "raw logs". These will lead you to download the data to your local desktop. If you're not seeing this or something similar contact the support area of your host and ask whether you have access to the log files and how to get to them.

*As an aside logs are extremely important as they allow you to not only see how many visitors you have had but where they are coming from, how they found you, how they navigate your site, and a number of other factors which can help you to fine tune your site and can possibly help make the difference between having a site on the net, and if its a commerce site, and having a site that converts visitors to customers. So if you are trying to get to that point take the time and invest in a host that offers access to them if your current does not.
