I have recently found out I was a victim of ID theft. It has been a real pain in the you know what. I have had to contact banks credit card companies and credit bureaus. I had no firewall before this incident but since have purchased Zone Alarm Pro. I hope this is a good one? After I purchased it though, I noticed something really weird with my MSN Messanger. A freind of mine contacted me on it, when I wasn't signed in. I asked him if his messanger was showing that I was online and he said yes. I signed in to messanger right away and got a message stating that I had been signed in from another location!? I have changed my password since then. I am just wondering, how easy is it for someone to hack into your system if you have no firewall (or if you do?) and get all sorts of personal info? When I first found out I was the victim of ID theft I got a call from a bank and they told me this person had my drivers licence # SIN #, address name, a lot of this stuff I didn't even have on my PC. Maybe they obtained some info from my PC and then proceeded to track down more info on me?
Thanks

Can you ever protect yourself? You can try, but bottom line is that your identity is wide open to thousands of companies. Any feelings of privacy are an illusion. The windows of your financial house are wide open, and they know what color shorts you're wearing.
In fact there was a story about this on 60 minutes II last Thursday.
