I prefer the SERPs from All the Web at the moment!

Anybody else feel the same?!

I don't know whether it's an updating issue or algos but I'm finding what I want and where I want more easily on All the Web than Google (IMHO!).

For several of my sites the SERPs from Google have been returning sites higher up the ranking which seem to have little relevance to all the keyword, e.g. 2 out of 3 but not the third. I've fired of so many reports about this and maybe something will come of it but this doesn't appear to be an issue with All the Web at the moment.

Anyway, opinions would be appriciated

Too bad it's not listing my website. How long it takes to get indexed in ATW for free anyways?

The index is getting more and more stale. Hasn't seen a significant update since at least May.

Only way a person could like this is if they like moldy bread...

ATW has just released a new index, which is not only much bigger, with 3,2 Bill docs, but boasts also an improved algo:
[webmasterworld.com...]

ATW usually indexes sites in two or more steps, beginning with the index page. A good way in is via strong links.

Most of the time I search for technical info and sites on topic for my website. Technical info does not get "stale" very fast and I am very satisfied with ATW results. Google is full of PDFs and message boards with little info. ATW is more clean.

I find the ATW's Serps pretty neat, as of the moment.

It's hard to be objective about ATW vs Google when you have a site with a Google PR of 5 (higher than nearly all of the competition) using keywords in an area that shouldn't be super competitive and it scores 3 on ATW, 11 on MSN and comes in at around 180 on Google.
I don't spam and I've followed the Google guidelines to the letter.
Don't get it at all.

I never knew it used any directory and I think it doesn't.

ATW does not offer a directory search, like Google does with their rebranded ODP version. And to be honest: yet another ODP clone is really not what the web needs.

ATW does use the ODP however as important node in their crawling patterns. They also use the ODP taxonomy for their topics feature.

I notice that sometimes ATW uses the DMOZ descriptions instead of the meta description on sites.

As far as saying that the cat hasn't been updated since May - patently untrue - I changed the title tag of one of my sites about a week ago and it is already in the ATW index.

Ditto with G and Altavista.

Can't say the same about AJ, Teoma, etc.
