The old spiders have went silent from fast (picked up the homepage yesterday is all). This is after a long spidering onslaught for two weeks.

They are up to something. ;) stay tunned...

btw: for those that know Tim Mayer, he has left Inktomi and joined AllTheWeb as Vice President of Web Search. Congrats Tim.

I wonder if they are connected?

HIHI, i wondered why Tim wasn't talking for Inktomi at a conference i attended recently :)

Well i am sure he will do a good job, and that we will see even harder rules for "spam" :)

I think they are up to something big, my guess is that they will come with something big next weekend ;)

Fast has been adding and adding and adding pages to the index ... perhaps they decided enough is enough ;)

I'm pretty sure they finally crack the 2 Bill. mark.
Last I heard they were only some thousand pages short.

Fast is using the regular homepage title and the ODP description for a site - a combo of the two. That's on a few searches - for another search the same actual title, but only about 8 words out of the description that's on the site itself, not ODP.

We had a massive amount of Fast spidering yesterday (4th) and several hundred pages today (5th) from our new directory. So I think that the Fast spider is still going.

FAST finally finished its spidering of our sites yesterday, so hopefully, we will see an update soon.

Are people seeing the following spider index their site pretty hard?:

cr006r01-test.sac2.fastsearch.net - - [27/May/2002:17:53:08 -0500] "GET .........deleted for post.................." 200 9365 "-" "FAST-WebCrawler/3.2 test"

Currently, my site is not listed within FAST at all, but I am hoping that FAST will be indexing pages from this spider in the future.
