How to get deeper pages listed?

My index page appears under a number of serps, where I'd have expected a deeper, more relevant page to be listed.

Is this normal Fast behavior, due to the use of the free submit option, or something else?

In my view you can do two things.

First you must insure that your site is well linked. All your pages must could be reached in max two clicks. I always trys to have 3 or more links pointing to every page and make those links text links with keywords in the text.

Second ypu must submit the intividual pages to Fast as well as the homepage ( submit www.mydomail.com and www.mydomain.com/mypage.htm and so on)

Glengara - I'm assuming the deeper pages you were expecting to show up in serps are in fact in the db?

If so you are experiencing the somewhat misterious functioning of FAST's clustering/collapsing.
Obviously FAST knows about the pages making your site relevant to the query, but shows the index page.

I've watched this happen time and again - mostly it worked out well, returning index for general queries and inner pages on specific queries.

Heini , what's the easiest way to check if the deeper pages are in the DB?

glengara,

For Fast there is a link labeled "more hits from:"
under your serp listing if you have multiple pages indexed.

>checking for internal pages
try Alltheweb advanced search. All you need and more than you'd expect.

It was as you said Heini, lots of pages in the DB; so it must be down to the "mysterious functioning of FAST's clustering/collapsing".

fast seems to index whatever links you give it access to, it's up to you to provide that.
