Looks as though ATW has updated......

So far, it looks like the update is from spidering activity two rounds back. The crawling I had about a month ago hasn't made it into the db yet. I wish they would things up a bit, but it is nice to see them on the move.

As I write this, I am seeing new listings from both spider cycles. More new results from the first cycle, but from both none the less.

Yeah, you are right! Well that is good news. Looks like they are fasing the data in.

Pete, why do I get the feeling we are on parallel paths?

You may be on parallel IP blocks, the update at Fast has yet to hit the UK, only by using a proxy can the new results be viewed.

Littleman, very much so! I remember you started out around the same time I did, maybe couple month later, and advanced handsomely. I believe we also share common approach to SEO - in answering to ourself rather then clients.. ;)

We gained nothing and lost nothing in this round. If I didn't look close, I'd wonder if there was an update. Did you guys go up or down?

On www.ussc.alltheweb.com there appears to be no update yet (so WPG reports no changes). On www.alltheweb.com it has been a big update, lots of new sites in and existing ones gaining ground with some good top spots.

I've done no real optimisation for FAST but my Google pages seem to have done very well indeed.

I get redirected to ussc from the UK, going direct to www.bos2.alltheweb.com shows the new results.

Anyone seen the changes migrate to Lycos yet?

Definitely a big update in the UK. Lots of new sites added and top 10 for virtually all my keywords. KWD very high, AV hates these pages but FAST loves them.

Yikes, that explains alot... So much for programmed solutions to rank watching. And Mikkel even clued me into that about as soon as it happened. I need one of them there 30 hour days.

I would never be able to do what I do if a day only had 30 hours ;)

We saw upward movement of a handful of pages well back into the top 20. A couple of em jumped up pretty far. Trouble is, they are not the ones I was expecting to move. The ones that did move up were pages that I hadn't touched. Go figure.

Ok, so what have you observed for the turn around time from going live in Fast to making it into Lycos?

Fast has spidered altavista.com and lycos.com! Probably other SE:s as well. Just look at this search [bos2.alltheweb.com].

Haven't seen ANY movement yet. It's like someone put drops of superglue on my pages in Lycos.

lycos.com shows all the new Fast listings as of today, at least from the UK!

So far I am not seeing any of my new fast listings in lycos. Strange that lycos.COM would have regional databases.

Not everything there yet.
Some sites submitted in the last quarter are still not showing. Not quite "all the web!"

On second thoughts you're right engine. This may sound crazy but... do you think they might update by IP blocks?

mark roach

10:07 am on Oct 16, 2000 (gmt 0)

I can see new referals coming in from lycos.com, but I can not see the actual search results for myself.

If I try a search on lycos.com it redirects me to lycos.co.uk. If I then try [www-english.lycos.com...] this would usually show me the right search results. However this seems to be still showing the old results.

Same thing, can see sporadic referrals but no listings. Update DB switching maybe? Looking forward to it settling down as I've got some great new spots in FAST!

>do you think they might update by IP blocks?
NFFC - I'm watching this VERY closely.
I'd guess that the DB is being updated "on-the-fly" based upon the "customer's" demands. I suspect Europe-based IPs will follow after USA IPs.

Whilst we don't get a lot of visitors direct from FAST/Alltheweb, we do get joy from Lycos.

This is an important SE - keep watching.

Lycos finally seems to have updated from Fast the sites that I'm looking at. Apart from that, Lycos has been playing around a bit.

Earlier in the day I was getting different listing for IE compared to Netscape (on .com). To get these results I had to play around to avoid being redirected to lycos.co.uk. Now I don't get redirected at all. Much confusion... Anything else changed?
