Lycos.com changes "Serps" pages

Quite familiar look for me - very similar to the Lycos.Europe serps. Never used Lycos.com much - whatīs the main improvement?
BTW: on most serps I watched ranking is nearly identical to alltheweb - right?

Yes and this will be a big improvement for those who are in FAST but never saw much success from Lycos US.

When I get listed well in FAST I see great success from Non-US Lycos sites, in addition to site powered by FAST. Reading through some posts here in the past, I believe a lot of people in the US did not target FAST because of this. Now is their chance.

Lycos was horrible Heini. They had like 5 different types of results listed on their search queries. Half of it was their own stuff and you had to scroll down pretty far to see the FAST results or click on the next page.

This is awesome! Now I can go back to targeting them more than I have been in the recent past.

Okay, so I thought you were talking about design of the serps pages, or description of the listings...
From what I remember Lycos .com used to have up to five sponsored listings at the top, stuff from "Lycos Network", Directhit listings followed by regular Fast listings.
Now I see the sponsored ones, rarely "lycos Network", then Fast. Agreed?

The ODP and 'Popular Listings' from DH have gone which tended to bury the FAST results. This is much better IMHO. A lot of popular searches got filled with results from lycos-wired. These have gone too. If you are doing well in FAST, you should reap the benefits on Lycos US now - as well as we have been doing in Europe.

Results are much more concise and readable now. Pages are the same as alltheweb or 1 spot lower. Very nice, a big improvement.

Lycos.com still counting clicks? What influence does it have? Any ideas?

My first guess is that they're counting clicks for HotBot, even though they don't use the HotBot data right now. It would help their income stream, I assume, or they may still be legally obligated.

Maybe the old feature of Directhit: measuring how often which listing is clicked, and if the 3rd is clicked much more than the 1st, the 3rd īd be the 1st next time.

Or: they want to start their own pay-per-click engine;-))
