Bidding on affiliate's name for PPC

Are they going to be happy and more importantly pay?

eBay, a site selling the merchants goods and another couple of affiliates bid on our merchants company name for PPC.

The merchant doesnt bid. My outbidding of eBay and the others means that I send as much traffic to my merchant as possible.

eSpotting etc. dont mind as long as I use "affiliate link". I have made a very reasonable amount of money in my first month doing this.

I have checked and I dont appear to be breaking any rules, the merchant doesnt have specific PPC guidelines or anything. If I was the merchant I would be happy someone was sending me so much traffic.

But if the learn how to market on the Internet do you think they'll get greedy and withhold my payments? Can they do this? I'd understand if they turned around and said nobody can bid on "Company Name" as long as I get paid for what i've done already.

What do you think?

Kandevil,

You may want to get in writing from Espotting what their stance on this actually is.

I can not really see any problem if you are doing the same as every other affiliate out there, but better to be safe than sorry.

Espotting seem to be having more staff dedicated to dealing with issues such as this these days.

Good Luck

Its not eSpotting that I worry about, they have agreed to my listing as have Overture and its on Adwords too.

Its the merchants reaction to my taking a sizeable chunk of his web traffic taking it through my affiliate page and getting my cut.

As if nobody was bidding on the Pay per clicks, their site would be number 1 of the additional listings.

Also their company name is their brand, what about issues here?

I had an email from Trade Doubler basically saying anyone doing this with any of their affiliate partners would have the account closed

is this recent or did you get that a while ago?

Would they close the account and not pay? can they do that? or would they close the account and you'd be given the balance still?

considering stopping these bids ASAP, its not in the tradedoubler terms and condition is it? I cant see it. Please provide a link if it is.

thanks

So to surmise, I can carry on going until the merchant finds out and then they'll close my account. But all money earned up until then I will be paid and I can continue working with other merchants.

Read your affiliate agreement. Some merchant agreements have clauses about this kind of thing. Always follow what you agree to on the terms.

How often do you get checks? If you get one soon keep doing it and you'll soon know if they are gonna pay you or not. Id keep my mouth shut and ride the wave while I could as long as the risk (PPC cost till next check) isnt too high.
