Hi All,
I need Advice on best affiliate to join or which advertisers to approch.
I have Launched a educational site in india
I had brought domain registration at Rs.500 (i.e 10$ approx)and
storage space of 2MB for Rs. 800 (i.e 16$ approx) for this year.
this expenses I had bourne by my pocket.
But to keep the site alive for comming years I need to generate revenue
Content of my site and its storage space will keep growing by leaps and bound as it will keep getting
more and more clicks etc.
visitors to my sites are mainly students (mainly from india as of now) and
this segment of people are low as a potential buyers of any products(except say books etc.)
I still haven't registered my site to any of the search engines
and haven't done any kind of self advertising
I am not at all concerned about increasing no. of hits on site (as of now)
as its concept itself is enough to attract many hits.
Please suggest me some affiliates Intrenational as well as in India
my site category is Education and target audience are student
this segment of people are large in numbers and high in internet usage
but are low as a potential buyers of general products that are provided by verious affiliates
but they might intrested in buying some products such as books etc and services like job hunting etc
and I am not generating any revenue by providing any products or services as of now.
I have various account in banks over here in mumbai city, which are connected to all international banks
This I am stating because not many Affiliate program cater to members who are residing in India.

Please guide me.

Thanks and Regards
Arun Kumar

Hello Arun, Welcome to Webmasterworld!

I'm afraid generating revenues through your website is not very easy. The problem areas -

- Students are not known to be great buyers.
- Indian students are never known to be internet buyers. How many of them have credit cards?

However, you should give affiliate marketing a try. A few ideas -

1) Join Amazon affiliate program. Select a few books that may interest your visitors, describe them and see if you can generate revenues.

2) Look for online shopping malls similar to Fabmart.com. Some of them have affiliate programs and they pay in Rs. This should help -
[directory.google.com...]

3) Contact other Indian portals and offer them exposure on your site for a fixed fee.

4) Lots of American/British/Australian colleges are falling over eachother trying to attract Indian students. Why not contact them and offer them exposure on your site, again for a fee?

Hope this helps!

[P.S. -> Almost all merchants pay send cheques to India nowadays. However banks like Citibank/ICICI take over 45 days to honour the cheques]

Hello, Arunkw ... (re 20/964msg#1)

I need Advice on best affiliate to join...

[profitpuppy.com...] has a box on the left and down a ways which says: "What are top affiliates earning?" Since it's run by a student, too, maybe you and the students you know will relate to it well.

Regards, Elizabeth ...

P.S. [associateprograms.com ] might also be helpful. It has a free newsletter you can subscribe to that's all about affiliate programs. :)

Welcome to webmasterworld arun ...

One affiliate program i can think for you is hotjobs...they pay $1 per registeration...but the problem is i think they are not paying for non-us registerations now....i am not sure though, better check their website ...

Forget about selling something which requires creditcard (eg: books) to indian students arun :) ...trust me , its very very difficult :).

If the site is generating high volume traffic then maybe you can sell impression based ads which can atleast pay for the hosting ...

If your site is targetting indians abroad then you can make some money in calling card affiliate programs ...

LOL! Now that's an understatement! ;)

I'm not sure whether Non-Indian based job site affiliate programs will help. I can't imagine any US-based company recruiting a fresher all the way from India.

Now if only Naukri.com had an affiliate program...

You can also try the essay writing sites...I have a site that is highly targetted to a specific type of student and I make a couple thousand US dollars a year off of the site with basically no effort. Sticky mail me if you want an example of some of these sites that may be interested in advertising on an education related site.

vibgyor79 , Hotjobs used to pay for non-us registarations...

I read about a guy ( from an other aff forrum ) who made some money on it...His strategy is simple...he just created a one page site which had some sales blah blah about hotjobs and put dirt cheap classified ads in newspaper (times of india ) job sections...

It worked charm and he made good money for such little effort and investment :)

Whether he as an affiliate created some value for hotjobs or not is completely a different question :) :)
