Does somebody here have any experience with the affiliate program of allposters.com.

Is it worth the effort?

René.

Did you just get an email from them to join their program? I got one an hour ago.

Sorry, I have no experience with them

I'm not crazy about e-mail sent to me about programs or sites. I've never seen the site before but they got a good pR-green bar, the dmoz category and it looks like they may be ok, i always search for the name of the company + scam or something like that to see if people are complaining about the affiliate.

I hate not getting paid on time with any affiliate program.

Yes, but since I have site full of photographs, selling posters could be fairly on topic, so my "this is spam" reaction didn't trigger.

If they are honest and reliable, it might be a suitable program for this site of mine.

René.

Hey, seindal, it's things like this that give spammers hope. My suggestion: resist the urge to do business with them, DO e-mail them and tell them you WOULD HAVE done business with them had they not spammed you, DO report them to their ISP, their web host, SpamCop, and anyone else you can find... ;)

I don't think this was a mass mailing. It was sent to the correct contact address of the site, on which I have never been spammed, and it contained a note that explicitly stated that the message was sent in response to my contact note on the site.

Since their email is also on topic, so I haven't considered it spam.

On a side note, I always report spam to spamcop and I have some rather aggressive filters on my server. In fact, the message only barely escaped bouncing ;)

I was wrong.

I have search for the senders name, and identical messages have been sent to mailing lists, so it is spam.

I have written AllPosters.com to hear if they are behind it. They try to give an image of being anti-spam.

It might be an affiliate trying to cash in on recruiting other affiliates, since they have a referral program. There were rather long links in the message for signing up, instead of just a simple link to their affiliate site. I didn't use the links to inspect their site, though.

BTW, I wrote this to them:

Dear AllPosters.com,

I have received the attached from one Jitka Mansfeldova, who claims to
represent AllPosters.com. The messages is clearly UCE, it has even been
sent to mailing lists, and before even considering signing my site up
for your program, I would like to known whether AllPosters.com is behind
this.

You affiliate program would be nice for my site, but I will not work
with a company that employ UCE for its marketing.

yes, and it is positive.

they have up to date stats, 20% commision and a good range of posters, i have them merely as an add on tucked away in a distant corner of a couple of my sites and i see a slow trickle of sales.

i've never checked for any association with scumware parasites, but my conversion rate is quite high on very low traffic - they run their own program.

unsolicited email ...

Abuse of this policy can result in termination of your AllPosters.com Affiliates Program account.

from AllPosters regarding unsolicited solicitation of "subaffiliates" - now thats a mouthful :)

... they offer $2 sign up and 5% commision if you recruit a sub affiliate - this would not affect your earnings seindal

I think this is what the sender of the email is up to. He is an affiliate and by focusing on recruiting new affiliates he gets this bit. If or when AllPosters cut him off, he just applies with another name or another site.

I am very happy to hear that you have positive experiences with them, because I do find it interesting for a site I have with many photographs. If people come to my site to watch nice pictures, they might want to buy similar posters too.

Thanks a lot for you post. I was about the dump the whole thing.

René.

I've also had positve experiences with them. They are scumfree to the best of my knowledge. Their stats are up to date and their huge selection of posters that you can incorporate into your site is hard to beat. Making these posters is also very easy.

Art.com use to be that way, but with the change over to Linkshare, creating links for art.com has become a real bear.

Anyway, my thoughts on it all.

I have received the following reply to my message to AllPosters.com (see message 8 above)

-----------------------------------------
Thank you for your email.

AllPosters.com contacts websites that we believe will be interested in our affiliates program and excludes a broad majority of websites since there is no indication that they will be interested in our affiliates program. We contact webmasters that provide their contact information on their website to be contacted about topics related to their websites. As part of our email we include information about our affiliates program, state that the program is run by AllPosters.com, and give
the ability to opt-out from any future mailing.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

I cashed a check from Jitka last week ...

AllPosters' anti-parasite policy is one of the best I've seen.

I have been swaying back and forth, but now I have signed up to try it out. I'm not too happy about the mails, that give a 'spammy' impression and create doubt about what allposters.com is all about, but if you guys say they are ok, I believe it.

Posters was one of my first true ventures in affiliate land. One thing to understand is that people love to "look at" art online. With this in mind one of my sites generates about 1,000 visitors daily which puts about $500 a month into my pocket. This site took awhile (maybe 100 hours) to build and has about 200 or so pages.

There is a script out there that will generate an entire allposters site based on an affiliate number as long as the web site hosting offers (cgi I think).

Posters are great and as mentioned the commisions are good to, I average about 21 or 22%. You start at 20% and work your way up based on total sales volume.

Good luck ;-)

I have found moviegoods is better for movieposters and art.com has a much larger selection of celebrity posters than allposters.
Those are better choices.

I've been with Allposters.com for a couple years. I don't do a whole lot with them but they're a steady cash cow. I would do better if I really got into art. They require minimal maintenance and pay regularly. They also provide lots of good tools and good reports. I rate them as one of the better affiliate merchants.

I also like ArtInAClick.com (on CJ) because they only offer framed prints, so while the sales are few, the orders are nice sized. One sale from my referrals was for $875. I've got a really nice framed Wyeth print on display in my foyer that they awarded me for improving sales at one point, and I think it was valued at around $350.

If you put up an art site, be ready for lots of emails from college students doing their term papers, and from their professors correcting your errors.

Art.com recently moved to LinkShare and cut its commission rate in half for new affiliates.

Allposters is a good choise because they have so many posters to use, great tools and they are updated all the time. You will not find many other other places with this service.
