An article entitled "Internet Ads Hit Rock Bottom" details how AOL is giving NutraSystems free advertising for two months, and only has to pay $50 if a customer clicks through and purchases a weight loss program.

The article also goes on to detail that Forbes.com is offering a money back guarantee! Using these giveaways, online media outlets are reporting a 30.5% uptick in sales.

Seems to me like this is the classic "Asteroid hit's earth - dinosaurs suffer - Little critters prosper" scenario.

Saw that article myself, too.

My first thought was I should try to buy some ads too - and make sure nobody clicks, just remembers the url :) Could work out very well for branding - as long as you don't make sales through that ad you can potentially get tons of people to remember your url.
