Hi everyone,

Before I go ahead and buy the domain and start building I thought I might ask for some opinions from those more experienced than my self...

Here's the scoop:

  • Specialized field, sub-section of much larger product group
  • 2-3 major players with quite a few places running these products as part of a larger field
  • Top 10 in Google, no problem
  • 25c max bid on Overture for most generic term with 8000 searches a month, about 10-12 biders
  • 14-15c bids on more refined keywords but only 150 or so searches
  • Ticket price: $60-$1000 - Average: around $130
  • 6 decent merchants, 5-15% the lower being the bigger ticket prd's

I think it's a goer, any comments?

Mucho grassy arse

Do you know the average conversion ratios? This would go a long way in knowing whether it is profitable. If you don't it doesn't cost that much to throw up a site, try your hand at some PPC and see what happens. Experimentation is the key in affiliate marketing. Some products will convert well, while others won't.

It probably won't be enough to live off of but could easily generate some extra cash for you. It looks like a good program to start on. As eljefe3 mentioned it doesn't cost very much to set up a site so go for it and let us know how everything goes.

With proper marketing you could eliminate a lot of the need for PPCs and reduce your overhead... of course, that's only if it generates a reasonable expense.
In any case, marketing, online or otherwise, is really important for getting a project like this to take off. When it's niche, you really have to reach your crowd, and hard.
