Creating product links

I've been thinking about adding some direct product links to various merchants via cj or elsewhere. Many of these merchants take a 'dumb' approach of having all the affiliate links go to their front door. Some make an exception for one or two popular products, but thats not good enough.

I've been thinking of ways of weaseling around this and doing something like have their affiliate link url load in a hidden iframe on my site and then have normal product links since the cookie has already been set. Or have the actual link load a frameset where the affiliate link loads hidden in one of the frames, and the product page loads in another.

This is not something like me linking directly to the products that they are losing money on or anything. There is no reason the merchant themself should be upset by the traffic in this situation, but can anyone see a reason why this would be a bad idea or an idea that wouldn't work?

Have you thoroughly explored the advanced linking options at CJ? Many merchants enable product linking that is waaay easier than what you're proposing. More SEO-friendly, too.

using the advanced links option at CJ, you can usually specify the URL of the page you wish to link to - instead of the home page
