What does it take to rake in the affiliate bucks?

Does anyone out there have examples of sites that do well at making cash out of affiliate links?

I guess some affiliate programs might have 'top ten affiliate' lists so we can see who's doing well. (For advertisers, Burst has a particularly interesting list of it publisher sites sorted in order of their traffic at [burstmedia.com...] )

I'm after a few ideas to steal...

Check out commission junction. They rate the top producing affiliate programs. You then could probably search on those programs on the web and see who is doing OK.

Most of the pro affiliates I know work more than one program, and -in many cases- have negotiated directly with the merchant(s) they represent. You're not likely to find their mix on a list.

Overall, the sites that rake it in know how to bring in targeted traffic and their content dovetails with the affiliate programs being promoted.

Keep in mind that these reports are generated as sales reports, NOT net revenue reports. Looking at these, we have no way of knowing what they spent on ppc and site promotion in order to achieve those sales.

Welcome, musicales, but I'm afraid you're not going to find out who the top affiliate marketeers are here because there's thousands of people looking for sites to steal ideas from.

The top players don't flaunt their success and most won't even publish the URL(s) of their site(s), but they will share their knowledge.

If you hang around and participate in this forum for a couple of years, you just might learn enough to become a top affiliate marketeer.
