I want to start a picture rating site. I need to know the following specific question:

Running a picture rating site, how much traffic (daily users) would it take to generate ~$500 every month in ads?

Yes, yes...I know that there are already plenty of picture rating sites, but please, for the sake of argument, assume that I have a unique twist that will allow me to get traffic.

Get to know your visitor demographic and that will answer itself.

1. You need to be able to link your advertisments directly to visitor purchasing decisions for greatest earning potential. E.g. photoshop, online image storage websites etc

2. Your visitors need to be actually coming to your site in order to find content that will help them make a purchasing decision for greatest earning potential. E.g. reviews, previews etc

3. What you do on your site you need to do it well, as if there other competitors in that marketspace that look better and have content that is easier to access then you loose.

By "picture rating site," I was referring to sites like hot?.com.
