I am totally new to AM (there we go again...) and my question is; what are the largest (and as I hope most reliable) affiliate networks? (Large, as in 100.000+ affiliates or more than 254 gazillion products)
From reading this forum I can come up with the following names:
- CJ
- Clickbank
- Amazon
- Ebay
So are there any other very large affiliate networks?
LS & SAS.
eBay is with CJ.
Out of interest what would the number of other affiliates in a network have to do with your choice of which networks to join up with?
I know one network with only one program in the UK yet they have an almost unrivalled reputation for fair dealing when it comes to large affiliates and small alike.
I would reckon the number of affiliates using them would be small in comparison to the likes of LS or CJ but if they had a merchant that was on either of the two mentioned there wouldnt even be a choice in my mind as to who I would work with.

I thought, perhaps if an other gazillion affiliate members considered it worth their time to sign up at one specific affiliate network, say CJ or Clickbank, it might be worth my time as well.
It's a very first way for a newbie to start making a choice. I know that what works for them perhaps doesn't work for me, but I need to start somewhere...
I can see your reasoning. One thing to bear in mind is that the majority of the gazillion affs mentioned will be doing zero business. Take the Uk for instance and you have maybe 500 affiliates doing any kind of significant business for merchants on a CPA basis. With this in mind the fact that some UK network have 80 000 affiliates means well they have 80 000 potential support queries to deal with for people who don't make them a penny.
Size is not a good indicator for you to find what you want. A better way would be to search the net for some of the more affiliate focused forums where the networks have a public presence and read up about what the guys who use them regularly think of them.
You wont get all your questions answered but you will build up a general impression of what the good companies are and what they are like to work with.
Its exciting being at the beginning of the affiliate adventure - good luck in your dealings.

I too think it's better to go through with their track record and their performance rather than going to evaluate things by their size.
At the end of the day, it depends what kind of traffic you get and the keywords
