Although I have gone through those internet marketing e-books sales pitch a lot of times, I wonder whether having a sales copy is really that important when you are doing affiliate marketing... especially on products as common as soap.

Currently, I'm selling books and games based on comprehensive reviews with an ending line that's written with something less of a sales pitch like "I'd recommend this to anyone".

But sometimes I wonder whether a sales copy (hard sales pitch) really works..

Your opinions?

Sales copy is the most important aspect of selling a product.

If you are selling a product you want good copy. If you are sending others to an aff site make sure it has good copy.

The key is in the conv. ratio.

Does it have to be long and hard sales pitch like most SEO/internet marketing e-books?

It depends on the product. To sell an ebook you really have to build desire in the customer, almost by selling them a fantasy of sorts, and the long copy works really well to build up that emotional desire. However, on a product like soap, that long approach is probably not necessary, although you still want to choose your words carefully because sometimes one little word choice can totally turn somebody "on" or "off" regarding your product.

Well, my review touches on both good and bad points
(more on good, of course) about the products. I wonder whether the bad points of the products will scare my visitors off, or whether it will make the visitors trust that I'm not somebody who just wrote this good great review about this product just so that they'll fork out money to buy it.

When Iam writing my copies, my main thrust is always to gain the confidence of the reader. Sometimes it means calling a spade a spade when I do product reviews. That honesty can hurt your conversion for that product, but you can spin your copy is such a way that a highlight on a particular advantage will overshadow the disadvantage from the point of view of a certain demographic.

Lying about the value of a product for the sake of conversion is common practice. But I'll never do that.
