Has anyone had any luck with AdWords yet (good or bad)?

Thanks!

I am using the new Select program if that is what you are referring to.

So far so good. It is running at a lower per click cost than my Overture.com currently. I am sure that will change once more people get into it.

Strikes me as a little less straightforward than a bidding system, it might be me being daft though! But I suppose over time it will become second nature just as PFP has

It sure isn't as cut and dry as Overture. I am finding it far more difficult to estimate the daily charges. I am sure I will eventually get a formula down. It is currently running about 25% less per day than overture for the same keyword set. I have not been running it long enough to have a good idea of traffic and conversions between the two. I will try and run that at the end of the month.

I am still new to this like the rest of us so take all of this as prelim info.

So far click through volume is s fraction of overtures.
I have found that finding the "right keywords" difficult.

Some Keywors that are "affordable on Overture" are 10x the cost on Google, even though there are no buyers for the keyword.

Have not figured that out yet, but have not spent alot of time trying to.

In a nutshell, the program requires more attention that other PPCs, but that fact could offer advantages that I have not been able to exploit due to time constraints.

Our account has been suspended twice. Screw up again and we are sent to purgatory.

I see why they are doing it - to filter our advertisers who minimize click throughs by using specific less attactive copy - for brand purposes entirely. But this policy is excluding products and services such as ours from the program. Not a big problem, we are very well ranked anyway in main indexes, and Google is probably not targeting guys like us.

Despite spending quite a few hours on it and reading all the options for reaching the .05% clickthough percentage necessary for staying live. For our only commercial products and services that we use paid advertising for (research services and management consulting in Asian countries) AdWords does not seem to work. Either the terms are:

1. Not popular enough to even have a prediction of even one click a day OR
2. Too broad to register the minimum click through rate

In all cases, click costs were 2 to 3 times as much as Overture, and Overture still runs our ads, even though they may not be cliked on much. The latter to us, is the major difference.

Interestingly, it got us back to review our Overture listings for the first time in months - resulting in raising bids and seeing that Overture was not so bad after all for niche advertisers :)

We are forgetting Google for the moment. We are too scared to try again just now, as they say if you "fail" a third time yo have to reregister your account and pay the registration fee again.

To move out of selfish mode, and based on our own experience only (one case), this may suggest that google AdWords will run into the same problems as Overture, but worse - Listings will be too broad for niche sites (which is Google's strength in main listings) to be listed. - Resulting in broad less-specific listings from major advertisers only.
