Is this allowed? Having the Adsense text ads & Konteras keyword ads on the same web pages. Does the adsense TOS allow it?

Also has anyone tried Kontera keyword ads? If so what is the kind of epc one can expect compared to adsense.

It's not allowed. I asked Google a few weeks ago about this and they said you may not use Kontera together with AdSense.

I've been rather curious how Google can demand exclusivity for an offering they don't provide to the marketplace. That goes against every known rule in the technology sales industry. In this case, turning most relevant text into advertiser sponsored links via real-time contextualization.

This question has come up numerous times on other boards, usually asked in relation to IntelliTXT with AdSense on the same page. (Kontera has the same type of offering, with a better rev share than IntelliTXT.)

I have seen it answered both ways. AdSense has told some publishers it's ok, and others it's not. The reason is either different AS reps understand and apply their own terms differently, or AS is tightening up on this part of their terms.

It makes sense with contextual competition growing like it is, they would now become much more concerned.

The best way to find out, is to ask AS and keep a record of the reply if allowed.

Sorry Drastic, I didn't do a good job of editing my first post ... what I mean to point out is that I can't see how Google could demand exclusivity with any publisher for Kontera's AdLink (or IntelliTXT for that fact), if Google doesn't offer a similar ad product in the marketplace. If you were to ask Google to use the Kontera TextMatch (in-line ads like AdSense) then I can see that would be in breach of their exclusivity ... Besides, what exactly do you think Google's account people are going to say if you ask them to potentially sacrifice performance so that you can increase revenues for yourself? Where I came from in ad technology sales, if I didn't offer a product in the marketplace my customers would provide me with written notice: if I didn't get a similar product launched, the customer was free to do what they wanted *within that product category*.
