Feedback on ContextClick - ads inside text links

...anyone have any experience with them

I'm a happy Adsense publisher but ran across a website the other day using something called ContextClick...in the site's articles were some links with double underlining; when I hovered over the double underlined links, a small text ad appeared floating near the link (like ToolTips in MS Office). In other words, in a sentence like, "When you are setting up your home network, remember you'll need to provide security..." and the word "security" or "home network" would have double underlining that would bring up an ad if you hovered over it.

Seemed like a cool concept, and the ContextClick program looked straightforward, but I'm very reluctant to jump into anything new without hearing others' experiences first (let others play the guinea pig!).... Anyone hear about or use this program, on either the advertising or publisher side?

I haven't used it yet, but I think Context Click (and its bigger and more demanding cousin, IntelliTXT) can be a good fit for a site that may touch on a lot of topics on its pages.

AdSense is great, but it can only really serve ads for one topic at a time. Overtext ad programs can be more flexible, serving 4, 5, or more ads on a page depending on the keywords used. This gives more potential to find a valuable keyword that might not be picked up by AdSense.

I think it would be worth a try, though you might want to try IntelliTXT first if you have the traffic. IntelliTXT is the more established entrant into these type of ads.

We use Intellitxt. I think under the right circumstances, these ads can do very well, but you need a lot of traffic. We have them on our message boards and a few other places. They don't seem to interfere with adsense, but the green underlines can annoy users. Their customer service has been excellent.

Hmm...okay, thanks for the feedback. I hadn't heard of Intellitext.

It sounds like you're combining that with Adsense. Did they say you could without violating the TOS, or are you assuming that the Intellitext ads are different enough to not be viewed as Adsense-like?

You can combine Intellitxt and Adsense. We're using them together, and they seem to get along.
