Tracking of affiliates when using incognito/private browsing

I've searched on the internet of the influence and working of using private or incognito modus while browsing. I can't find an answer but as far as I know if someone clicks an affiliate link at my website while using incognito browsing in most ways the tracking will succeed. But when a user comes back at the website after a few days and buys a product the cookies are gone, the website gets the sale but there's no tracking of the lead/sale.

What are the experiences here and am I right that incognito browsing is bad for affiliate marketing?

Yes incognito browsing makes things difficult for advertisers who use cookies to track users.

Are users who use incognito mode a worry though? I think the percentage of users who do this on a consistent basis would be really low.

The other thing is most affiliate companies should be moving to a Cookieless Tracking Solution anyways. Last October Apple updated Safari to ITP 2.0 which created a huge issue for advertisers and the need for them to create alternate ways to track users (which makes me wonder what the point is of ITP 2.0 anyways).

And if not cookie-less, at least head towards 1st party cookies (3rd party cookies are on life support, and outlook is grim).
