Monetizing Directories

I have three directories currently, one has PR2, the other two are brand new and have PR0 thus far. I'm going to put some adsense/kanoodle ads on there soon, so that will be one thing, and a couple affiliate links too, however the affilaite links on the mor established directory do almost nothing.

what might i try in order to succesfully monetize these directories?

also, i have sold a few text links, but that is a totally separate avenue.

get the traffic up
then you'll have a world of options that will actually work .. from selling ads to affiliate progs to adsense/kanoodle contextual options

AdSense works fairly well, but I think relevant traffic (type-ins and AdWords) is the best way to get the value/earning potential of your site up.
