If you are not going to design the site yourself - whats the best way to get the most about of your designer?
By this i mean, what should you prepare for them.
1. Page strucutre? 2. Layouts? 3. Content ?

have you researched the product thoroughly? found your competitors? If you have competitors, see what they do, see what they don't do very well.
Work out your target market, how can you get the best advertising?
There's lots of ground work to do to make sure it's going to be successful.

This is great advice so far! I have began to take a look at some competitors and note what some of their strong and weak areas are. I look forward to your continued advice.

isn't it your strategy for selling the site for lots of money when it's successful and established?
Ctrl + Alt + Del is quite a good exit strategy too :)

PLEASE correct me if I am wrong, but most people who start affiliate website have the goal of earning a monthly revenue stream from it, not getting venture funding to go IPO - or anything in between like being aquired (not saying it does not happen).

That's more or less what I was thinking.

I just recently opened a drop shipping site and it has been pretty easy to work with the company that supplies my products. Most of them will be happy to give you photos/text to add to your pages. They will also give you target prices. The biggest step I think is to get the site out there to get it going. I am now in the process of actually generating sales. I have had alot of hits but not a valid sale. You can sticky mail me if you need some more help. I have just started to learn just like many others on this board.

I agree, monthly revenue stream is typically the best way to operate your own affiliate site. NlightN

Well, I have done research on who would be my "competitors" and taken notes on the positive and negative aspects of their sites, now what?
