Currently getting about 1 million pages views daily on various subject matter. If I start running ads, what are the average commission rates per click. Ads covering my subject matter can range in paid value (to the advertiser) anywhere from .10 to 25.00 per click, my simple question is what are the commission percentages paid to me, the webmaster who displays them from various marketing outfits.

Link and or FAQ appriciated.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

Are you running CPM ads for a network, or are you trying to do this yourself and charge the advertiser on a per click basis?

If it's the first, the network can tell you how much you'll get for the ads. If it's the second, you'll have to do some research via overture/yahoo tool and also the adwords tool to get an idea of what advertisers are paying per click.

I am looking to "begin" running ads via various providers, i.e. adwords, overture, etc. and wanted to know what percentage of what they charge is given to us. Currently I am not researching running my own ads directly, but may seek that option depending on returns.

Thanks for the info

You're getting 1 million page views a day and are only now thinking about running ads? Okay, whatever.

As for AdSense, the split is unknown and not worth worrying about because the other variables that affect click payouts are also unknowable and uncontrollable. All you can do is test it out and see how it works - but expect to earn far closer to .10 than $25.00.

As for Overture, you'd have to talk to them directly. They only want big fish and even with a million pageviews a day you might not get into their program.
